SPRINGFIELD -- St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Kyle Lohse, who went on the disabled list on June 4h with a strained right forearm, made a rehabilitation start with the Springfield Cardinals on Thursday night as the Cards opened a homestand against the Frisco Roughriders.
Lohse, 30, who had a 4-4 record with the parent club and a 3.99 ERA before his injury, pitched four-and-two-thirds innings for Springfield, giving up two runs on three hits with four walks, three strike outs and one home run.
Lohse said he felt good about his outing considering he had not thrown in a real game in a month and, while he did get tired in the 5th inning, he felt that he could go to the big league club and start a game right now.
That won't happen, however, as Lohse is scheduled to join the team in Cincinnati on Friday and be evaluated this weekend by pitching coach Dave Duncan. From there the Cardinals will decide if Lohse is ready to rejoin the team or go for another rehab assignment at either Springfield or Memphis.
