SPRINGFIELD -- Some folks spent their Fourth of July on the trail at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.

It's all part of the "Hiked it, Liked it" program.

A naturalist guided tours and tells them about the various animal and plant habitat.

If you're a flower lover, now is the best time to check out the center's prairie habitat.

"All the wildflowers are blooming," naturalist Alan Reed said. "The purple and the purple cone flowers, the yellow cone flowers are there so the wildflowers right now are in their peak full bloom."

The guided walk is free.
