SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- After nearly four hours, a standoff early Sunday at a home ended peacefully. Police took a man to a hospital for a psychological evaluation.

The incident started around midnight at a home near the intersection of Dayton Avenue at Swan Street in southwest Springfield. Police said a man was threatening to hurt his wife, himself, or anyone who entered the house.

After several hours, a tactical unit was able to talk the man into surrendering. Police didn't release his name. They said the results of the psych exam could determine if charges are filed.
