( Randi Malkin Steinberger / "Boetti by Afghan People" / RAM Publications ) The Fowler Museum at UCLA is hosting "Order and Disorder: Alighiero Boetti by Afghan Women," featuring the series of projects Italian artist Alighiero Boetti (above, left) created with Afghan embroiderers between 1971 and his death in 1994. The exhibition features 29 works, examples of the traditional embroidery styles that inspired Boetti in Kabul, and Randi Malkin Steinberger's documentary photographs of the Afghan embroiderers (above, right). The exhibition runs from Feb. 26 to July 29, 2012. |
