While Prince William and Kate Middleton have been busy playing house, it bears bringing up that Princess Diana had only met Charles 13 times before their big day. The topic came up in those damning tapes Di made in the mid-'80s with her confidant Peter Settelen. On the recording, she recalls an engagement interview with her future husband. A reporter asked if the couple was in love, and though Diana quickly replied, "Yes, of course we are," her fiance answered, "Whatever 'in love' means." When Settelen asked if she was too frightened to confront Charles about his response, she said, "Must have been, yeah ... we met 13 times before we got married." |
