Chris Chiarino sent us his fitness story. He writes, "After trying and failing for 5 years to lose the weight. I was able to accomplish it when I gave it over to God.
In November of 2011 I weighed in at about 281lbs at 5'10". I had had enough and through prayer and resolve I began a weight loss journey.
I began by not eating after 7:00pm and in a month and a half I had lost 15lbs.
I then added calorie counting to my regimen along with walking. I made every effort not to lose sleep over my calories.
After about 9 months I was stuck at 225lbs and I knew I had a long way to go. One day I decided to run gown from church. It was the first time I had run. But, due to the the severall months of walking my legs held up great. It was 8.5 miles. I then continued with several long runs a week that average around 9 miles.
At first my pace was terrible (11.5 minute miles). But, I didn't care my goal was to finish the run without walking.
By the summer of 2012 I was at 179lbs and I ran 150 miles that month at an average pace of 8.5 minute miles. I am currently still running, though the average distance is in the 5-7 mile range. I have settled in at 190lbs. My goal is 185lbs.
I recently got a YMCA membership so I can utilize my lunch breaks at times to run on the treadmill.
I still count calories, though I don't always burn what I eat, at least I know what I need to burn.
My goal for 2014 is to stay around 185lbs put in between 75-100 miles in a month running and I am planning to do some strength training.
