Recycle electronics in Nixa Saturday
NIXA, Mo -- If it plugs in or runs on batteries, it can be recycled in Nixa this weekend!

Often times, companies will charge you money to dispose of your unwanted electronics. On June 2, the city of Nixa will let you do it for free.

It's not a good idea to just throw your old electronics in the trash. Electronic waste can be dangerous on the inside--lead, mercury, even arsenic. If the devices break, they can leak and contaminate the environment.

(EDITED PRESS RELEASE) - The City of Nixa, in association with Computer Trade Recycling Center, will hold an e-cycle event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 at The Nixa Community Center, 701 N. Taylor Way.

Items accepted include: laptops*, desktop computers*, lawn equipment, televisions, cell phones, telephones, cameras, batteries, printers, large and small appliances, stereo equipment, LCD and CRT TVs and monitors (limit one per household), video game consoles, fax machines, computer parts, cables and cords.

*All hard drives will be destroyed on site to protect privacy.
