Dozens asked for hundreds of toys to be tested for lead

SPRINGFIELD -- KY3's lead testing event on Monday evening uncovered some toys that are safe and others that are tainted with lead. Professional testers examined 316 toys and found 12 with lead; that's about 4 percent. The parents and grandparents who came to KY3 for the event say they'll sleep sound knowing the results.

Missouri State University's Students in Free Enterprise chapter helped organize this event. SIFE members kept track of all the toys that came through our doors and which have lead. The results are available by clicking on the link below.

A word of caution though: if you have the same toy as one we tested, the level of lead might not be the same. Different lots might be manufactured in different plants with different materials.
