Police seek man who robbed Dollar General store in Monett

By Gene Hartley

MONETT, Mo. -- Monett police and Crime Stoppers of Barry-Lawrence County are looking for a man who burglarized the Dollar General store at 775 Chapel Drive last spring. The man may be responsible for several other burglaries and thefts since then.

The man removed screws from metal siding and entered the store on April 29. He then went in the locked office, saw a surveillance camera and slapped the camera.

Police think the man also broke into a tool rental business in Monett and stole the drill used to remove the screws from the metal siding at the Dollar General store. Other police departments in southwest Missouri have reported the same type of burglaries at Dollar General stores.

The man is about 6 feet to 6-foot-2. He wore a black leather jacket and a blue baseball cap. He may have some type of mark on his left cheek.

Anybody with information about this or other crimes can call Crime Stoppers at (417) 354-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to the arrest and charges against felons.
