FLIPPIN, Ark. -- Marion County Sheriff Carl McBee reports officers spotted a wanted fugitive from Indiana who faces drug charges. His name is Thomas Crawford but he also goes by Anthony Meyers and Steve McDonald.

An officer saw Crawford driving on Arkansas 202 headed toward Flippin. The Flippin Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a Silver 2002 Hyundai at the junction of Arkansas 202 at Arkansas 178 about 2:36 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 9).

As an officer approached the stopped vehicle, it sped off toward Bull Shoals, weaving in and out of traffic. Flippin Police Chief Nathan Rogers and Officer Bruce Mayfield gave chase.

A short time later, they lost sight of the vehicle. Other officers arrived in the area and set up near Micro Plastics on Arkansas 178. A short time later, officers saw Crawford’s vehicle drive back past their location. Officers again gave chase again.

Officers again lost sight of the vehicle just as it crossed the railroad tracks on Arkansas 202. Other officers were set up near Crawford’s home, which is on Marion County Road 8105 off Arkansas 202.

Officers were told Crawford did not come that far by other officers who had also responded from Marion County. Officer then backtracked and found Crawford’s vehicle behind a home near the railroad tracks.

Officers talked to the owner of the home, Hershel Paxton, who said he didn’t hear a vehicle pull behind his home. The area was secured and the Arkansas Department of Corrections brought in a tracking dog.

Officers from the Department of Corrections arrived a shot time later and the dog picked up a trail, which led to the railroad tracks toward Summit. As darkness fell the dog lost the track.

Crawford likely is still in the area and likely is armed and dangerous. Crawford is 55 years old, about 6 feet tall and 185 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing a dark baseball cap and had a goatee and likely is bald headed. He could possibly be in the Yellville or Bull Shoals area.
