Ozark Greenways offers reward for return of bumblebee sculpture

By Gene Hartley

SPRINGFIELD -- This past October, Ozark Greenways installed a beautiful public art sculpture of a bumblebee in a prairie garden along South Creek Greenway, on the west side of where the trail crosses under Golden Avenue. Local artist John Merrill of Hammersmith Metal Works created it, with funds from a private donor who lives near the trail.

Someone stole the bee sculpture this weekend by cutting it at its base with a hacksaw. Anyone who has information about who has this sculpture, or can help with its return, can contact either Ozark Greenways at (417) 864-2015 or the Springfield Police Department at 864-1810. Ozark Greenways offers a $200 reward for its safe return.
