Bank robber flees on foot in southeast Springfield

By Gene Hartley

SPRINGFIELD – A man robbed a bank in southeast Springfield on Monday morning. Security camera photos may help police find him if someone recognizes the robber.

Police say the man entered the Regions Bank, 2045 S. Glenstone Ave., about 9:20. He handed a teller a note demanding money and ran away after he got some. The teller didn’t see a weapon.

Anyone with information can call Springfield police at (417) 864-1810 or the FBI at (417) 882-3303.

The man’s description is black, 6-foot-0 to 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, black and curly hair, and late 30s to early 40s. He wore a blue jacket (mid-thigh length), blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a khaki baseball hat. He had a gold hoop earring in his left pierced ear. The FBI says he should be considered armed and dangerous.
