Police seek man who robbed hotel

By Gene Hartley

Crime Stoppers and the Springfield Police Department ask for help in identifying an armed robber at the Crystal Suites, 1260 E. Independence St., on Friday, Feb. 1, at 9:27 p.m. A man entered the hotel and demanded money from the clerk. When she initially refused, the man pointed a handgun at her.

The robber left the lobby from the front doors and ran northeast after obtaining cash from the cash drawer.

The clerk described the robber as black, in his mid to late ‘30s, about 5-foot-11, and 220 pounds. He was wearing a black stocking cap, black hooded zip-up sweatshirt, black pants, and black gloves. He was also described as having no facial hair and having a large nose.

If you have any information about this robbery, call Crime Stoppers at (417) 869-TIPS (8477) or go online (see link below). Tipsters do not have to give their name and could earn a reward.

Crime Stoppers takes information about drug dealers, wanted felons, and all other felony crimes. We pay rewards of up to $1000.00 in cash for the information that leads to the arrest and the filing of charges against people involved in felony crimes.
