Police seek two who attacked man and stole valuables and clothing

Crime Stopppers and the Springfield Police Department are asking for help in identifying two young men who assaulted and robbed a 21-year-old man who was walking near Missouri Avenue at Mount Vernon Streets. The victim had left a friend’s home and was walking in an alley when he was assaulted sometime between 3 and 3:40 a.m. on Monday (April 28). The attackers took everything of value that the victim had, including his black Airwalk tennis shoes and a blue and silver RCA MP3 player, leaving him in only his underclothes and socks.

The thieves are described as white and between the ages of 18 and 22. One of the attackers is about 5-foot-8, 140 pounds, and was wearing a ball cap and black jacket with white print. The other attacker is 5-foot-10, with a thin build, unshaven, and wearing a blue “hoodie” sweatshirt.

The victim has injuries to his face and head and some damaged teeth.
