WEAUBLEAU, Mo. -- Bank clerks and law officers believe a man who tried to rob the Sun Security Bank on Monday morning is the same man who robbed the bank two weeks ago.
That time, the robber tied up a clerk with cable zip ties.
On Monday, Hickory County Sheriff Ray Tipton says, the man tried to open the bank doors around 7:30 but the clerks had already locked the door behind them.
Tipton says the description of the man and his car matches the robber who got away on Feb. 17. That robbery also was about 7:30 a.m. and a bank security camera got a photo of the getaway car.
Tipton said he asked several school administrators from Weaubleau to Macks Creek to use their automated telephone notification systems to send messages to 500 to 700 homes in the area in case it might generate leads about the robber.
Weaubleau is north of Humansville and east of Collins on U.S. 54.
