Springfield police hope security photos will help catch armed robbersedited news release
SPRINGFIELD -- Crime Stoppers and the Springfield Police Department ask for help identifying men who committed two recent robberies.
The first robbery was on Aug. 11 at 2:52 a.m. at the Kum & Go Convenience Store at 4020 W. Battefield Road, near West Bypass. The clerk was alone in the building when two men entered the store, displayed a gun and demanded cash. The robbers left with cash and the clerk’s cell phone in an unknown direction of travel. The second robbery was on Aug. 11 at 4:49 a.m. at the Kum & Go Convenience Store at 3030 S. Jefferson Ave., just south of Battlefield Road. A clerk and a product vendor were in the store when two men entered, displayed a gun and demanded cash. The men stole cash from the register then fled on foot into the nearby Old Monterey apartment complex. Descriptions of the robbers and surveillance footage lead investigators to believe the same men are responsible for both robberies. One man is black, 5-foot-10, with a medium build. He wore a white t-shirt and blue bandana as a mask. He had the gun during the robbery on Battlefield. He was not wearing the bandana during the robbery on Jefferson and was described as having a mustache. The second man is black, 5-foot-10, with a heavy build. He wore a black t-shirt and a red bandana as a mask. He was displaying the gun during the robbery on Jefferson. The victims from the robbery on Jefferson described him as wearing a black stocking cap.
