Detectives seek clues about robbery near Park Central Square

SPRINGFIELD -- Crime Stoppers and Springfield police detectives are asking for help identifying two men who assaulted and robbed two other men last month. The attack was Aug. 9 at 2:33 a.m. near Park Central Square at 313 Boonville Ave.

The two victims were preparing to leave the square. As they were standing next to their vehicle, they were each hit on the back of the head by two men. The attackers continued punching the victims on their heads and faces until they fell to the ground.

One victim was able to see the attackers flee in a light-colored Dodge quad-cab pickup. One victim discovered later that his wallet was stolen from a pocket and cash was missing.
