Author Aileen Layon, one of three sisters who co-wrote the book “The Summer of Joanie and Bobo,” read the book to students at McCabe Elementary School in El Centro on Thursday. The book is about four sisters who begged their father to take care of a runt pig, with broken hind legs, when they were growing up in North Dakota. The students named the two piglets Joanie and Bobo.
