It is probably not a viable strategy for dealing with unemployment on a national level, but President Barack Obama took an unusually hands-on step during an online town hall meeting Monday. When a Fort Worth, Tex. woman said her husband was having employment troubles, the President asked for his resume.
"If you send me your husband's resume, I'd be interested in finding out exactly what's happening right there," Obama told Jennifer Wedel during the Google Plus "hangout."
Wedel's husband, an engineer, was laid off three years ago, reports the Dallas Morning News. She took issue with Obama's call for hiring high-tech engineers from overseas because despite being one, her husband has been unable to find work.
Despite calling herself an "avid Republican," Wedel told the Fort Worth Star Telegram that she was taken aback by the President's response.
""I think I went deaf," she said.
