SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A man from Springfield received a 30-year prison sentence on Wednesday for raping a 12-year-old girl in July 2009. A Greene County jury convicted Brian Southern, 35, of first-degree statutory rape last June.
Circuit Judge Tom Mountjoy denied Southern’s request for probation. Southern has several prior felony convictions, including resisting an arrest, being a felon in possession of firearms, and second-degree drug trafficking.
