MARION COUNTY, Ark. (maybe) -- KY3 viewers live in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. A few unfortunate ones live in both – or neither – at the same time. They’re the ones who live on the north side of Bull Shoals Lake, cut off from the rest of the state except by boats or long road trips through Missouri (see the map at the left).
These people are assigned addresses administered by the U.S. Post Office in Theodosia, Mo. They’re Arkansas residents with Missouri addresses, which isn’t as fun as it sounds, as they describe in this video report.
Many people propose solutions but what the residents have learned is: if there is a solution, they have thought of it and they have tried it, other than moving somewhere else.
The U.S. Postal Service hasn’t returned a reporter’s calls to say why they don’t give those folks a unique Arkansas zip code but still let that mail be handled by the post office in Theodosia.
