NIXA, Mo. -- The directors of the Nixa Fire Protection District said Friday that Deputy Chief Jon Trent will fill the open position of fire chief, effective immediately. Trent is a 20-year veteran of the department.
Trent began his career in 1992 as a firefighter. He has held numerous positions within the organization including training/public education officer, lieutenant, captain, assistant chief and deputy chief.
Trent is respected statewide as a fire service instructor through the Missouri Division of Fire Safety. He is an adjunct instructor with the University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute and is active in fire and emergency services training and planning in Christian and Greene counties.
A ceremony to officially swear in and pin Chief Trent will be during the regular monthly board meeting on Feb. 21 at station 2, 301 S. Nicholas Road.
Trent replaces Jimmy Sebree, who resigned in November after he was suspended by the board. The suspension followed undisclosed grievances filed by six fire department employees and their union.
