NORWOOD, Mo. -- One man was arrested, but later released, after a crash early Sunday that killed a woman.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a minivan driven by Christopher Field ran into the back of a truck driven by Ashlea Harper just west of Norwood about 2 a.m. Harper's truck swerved off U.S. 60 and overturned several times. Harper, 27, died at the scene. She lived in the Kirbyville area.
Field's van also went off the road after the crash. Troopers say he then fled on foot but was arrested a short time later. He was treated at the hospital in Houston before being booked and then released.
The Highway Patrol's website says Field is suspected of involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, following too closely and littering. The Wright County prosecuting attorney will have to decide on charges once the Highway Patrol's investigation is complete.
