Man from Rogersville died after crash in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A man from Rogersville died at a hospital after a crash on Monday afternoon.

Tucker Redfern, 21, lost control of his northbound Ford 150 pickup on National Avenue just south of Seminole Street near Mercy Hospital.  Witnesses say Redfern's truck veered into the southbound lanes, missing cars, then returning to the roadway before striking a signal pole on the west side of the intersection.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The City of Springfield Public Works Department on Tuesday released its September 2012 Crash Report Card for crashes taking place Jan. 1 – Sept. 30.  There were 17 fatality crashes (killing 20 people) in that period this year, compared to six fatality crashes in the same time period in 2011.  The number of total crashes decreased by three percent and the number of injury crashes decreased six percent, compared to the same period last year.
