SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Public Schools will be in session Friday.
The district says due to increased traffic Friday and road conditions, some bus routes may run late. School leaders remind parents to dress their students appropriately for the cold weather.
Thursday was Springfield's first snow day of the 2012-2013 school calendar.
I agree plaingirl. You know, many of us that actually have to wrok have to make a lot of concessions, lose vacation time or lose pay when schools cancel classes when they can safely hold them. We have become soft as a society.
Come on people take responsibility for yourself and your kids. If you think it is dangerous to go to school, then choose to stay home. It is that simple. The school district is trying to make the best decision it can and the the administration has a lot more things to worry about than your kids that are fed, safe, and warm-many kids are not. Make the best decision for your family and give the people who serve our kids every day a little credit.
I just had to go to the gas station and I cannot believe the schools are going to be open. I am not letting my son go stand and wait for the bus, which who knows how late it would be. A bus full on these icey streets is rediculous, unless they go super slow. In turn would also make all their later stops extra late. So those kids are going to stand outside waiting for who knows how long and it currently says its 25" outside and thats without the strong winds. I know every second I spent outside was terrible. Will the school's pay the Dr visit's? Just curious what kind of people my property taxes are hiring... Even the colleges that are open, I told my son that if he wants to go today - call someone or the college and have them come pick him up because he isn't driving my car. Safety First!
