State of Missouri now offers debit cards for people getting tax refunds
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Missouri residents who file individual income tax returns or property tax credit claims can now get their tax refunds in the form of a debit card.

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel made the announcement on Friday morning.  This is the first year Missouri's Department of Revenue will offer the debit card.

Taxpayers will need to check the "debit card" box on the refund line of their 2012 income tax return or property tax credit claim to get the card.

The card can be used at UMB, MoneyPass and Chase ATMs to withdraw cash without fees.  People can also use the cards to make purchases wherever Visa is accepted.

The normal refund options for taxpayers, paper checks and direct deposit, are still given.
