The E-List: BEST TV SPIN-OFFS by Ethan Forhetz

Spin-offs seem like a great gamble if you're a TV network. You take a likeable supporting character from a popular, established TV show, and give that character his own show. Then, that new show starts with an advantage: the people already know and like the main character. In addition, you haven't really hurt the original popular show because you only removed a supporting cast member. Worth the risk, if you ask me! That said, most spin-off don't work very well. That's a list for another week though. This week, I'm counting down the spin-off shows that DID work, and work well! There was a time (70 & 80s) when spin-offs were everywhere, with some shows producing more than one successful spawn -- you may be surprised to find out which shows begat which shows!
