‘Twilight’ past: Sam Uley is the Alpha, or leader, and oldest member of the La Push pack, a group of werewolves residing on the Quileute Native American reservation near the small town of Forks. As leader of the Quileute wolf pack and fiancé to Emily Young, Sam is dedicated to protecting his tribe from the threat of the vampires, also known as the "Cold Ones."

Hollywood future: Spencer is currently starring in a film adaptation of the James Welch novel "Winter in the Blood," the story of a Native American man whose tribe and his culture are clashing with a nearby white settlement and misguided legislation in modern day Montana. He moves through his days in a mental haze and tries to console himself with sexual encounters. He is also coming to terms with the death of his father and his 14-year-old brother.
