SPRINGFIELD -- A procession of nearly 100 cars accompanied the body of Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Gary McCormack from the funeral at Second Baptist Church to Greenlawn Cemetery. Traffic paused in both lanes of U.S. 65 and Interstate 44 out of respect for McCormack, whose funeral and graveside services were Tuesday afternoon.

At the cemetery, a three-volley salute was part of the graveside service. Officers from both the Greene County Sheriff's Department and the Republic Police Department, where McCormack used to work, gave the salute.
