SPRINGFIELD -- A fire destroyed a home in Greene County just south of Springfield. Crews say the ice storm kept them from getting to the scene in time.
Investigators with the Battlefield Fire Protection District are trying to find out what started the house fire in the 5600 block of South Dollison Avenue. When crews arrived, flames had spread from the garage to the attic. No one was home.
Electricity to the neighborhood had been restored about two hours before the fire started. A utility crew working in the area was the first to see the flames.
