Power outage numbers dwindle; CU believes nearly all service is restored

By Gene Hartley

Here are some of the latest power outage numbers from the utilities in the KY3 area about how many electric service outages they have:

At 10:25 a.m., Friday, Webster Electric estimated 250 members were without power; it still has triple its usual workforce on the job and has no time frame for restoring all the power. Crews are down to mostly individual outages and are working house by house now.
----

As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, City Utilities of Springfield reports restoration efforts are substantially complete, and is in the process of resuming normal daily operations. Since Monday morning, just more than 11,000 outages were reported through CU's outage system.

CU is in the process of confirming power has been restored to all customers who can accept electric service. A CU customer still without power should call (417) 863-9000 to report it.

Contract tree trimming and line crews will remain as needed to ensure any additional system restoration work is completed. Customers with damaged weatherheads or electric service entry points need to have a licensed electrician repair them. Customers should turn off their main breaker switches in the electric panel before power is completely restored.

CU has 90 tree trimming crews and 55 line crews assisting with restoration efforts. Combined this is a total of about 375 people assisting in the field.
---- In southeast Missouri, a few thousand homes and businesses are still without power, even as another wave of winter weather appeared on the way.

AmerenUE reports nearly all of its customers had electricity restored. Electric cooperatives still had about 5,000 outages, with about 3,000 of them in Bollinger County, west of Cape Girardeau.

The National Weather Service expects another round of winter weather to arrive in parts of Missouri on Saturday and Sunday. Rain is forecast to the south but parts of northern Missouri could get up to six inches of snow.
