St. Louis Cardinals fans camped out for 48 hours at Hammons Field in February 2005 to get tickets to the major league club’s two exhibition games against the new Class AA Springfield Cardinals. They also had the first opportunity to buy single game tickets for the minor league club’s opening season. The reporters are KY3 News’ Sara Sheffield and Michelle Sherwood (who is now at KSPR, which is operated by KY3).

Springfield played 70 home games at Hammons Field between April and September of that year. Its inaugural season record was 70-70.
