Voters rejected a property tax increase that would have provided more money to the Harrison School District. The proposed 2.6-mill increase failed 1,720 to 558 on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Boone County Election Commission.
The district asked for the property tax increase to build and update its facilities. The superintendent says a tax increase proposal will be back on a ballot next year.
Meanwhile, Viola School District voters approved a a tax increase that will add 18 new classrooms and a new high school gym.
