ST. LOUIS -- A pilot for the Missouri Air National Guard sued Boeing Corp. over a crash of the F-15C Eagle that he flew during a training mission. The crash was east of Salem near Boss in Dent County in November.

Maj. Stephen Stilwell survived but suffered serious injuries when he ejected as the jet broke in half during the training mission. Stilwell was part of the 131st Fighter Wing at Lambert Airport in St. Louis.

The accident prompted the Air Force to ground more than 300 older model F-15s after finding cracks in some planes and parts that didn't meet safety specifications in others. McDonnell Douglas Corp. of St. Louis built the older planes. Boeing bought McDonnell Douglas in 1997.

A Boeing spokesman did not return a phone call seeking comment.
