Having sex with inmate gets Laclede County jail nurse fired

By Gene Hartley

LEBANON, Mo. -- A former nurse in the Laclede County jail could be charged with having sexual contact with a former inmate. Sheriff Richard Wrinkle says he fired the woman last week and will send an investigator’s report, when it's done, to the prosecuting attorney.

Wrinkle says the inmate is now in a state prison. The Missouri Department of Corrections alerted him on Feb. 28 that the inmate and the nurse may have been “romantically involved.”

The Corrections Department has audio recordings and other documentation, which it furnished to Wrinkle. He asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol to investigation the inmate’s allegations, and a detective interviewed the nurse on March 18.

“The investigation to this point has substantiated the allegations,” Wrinkle wrote in a news release on Tuesday.
