A fire in a northwest Arkansas home has taken the lives of five sisters. The flames hit in a downtown home in Bentonville yesterday. A smoke detector woke up two parents, who escaped, but five children sleeping upstairs did not.

The fire chief ruled the fire accidental. A space heater is being examined to see if it was the cause of the fire.

Congressman Roy Blunt, R-Springfield, will tour flood-damaged parts of the Ozarks today. He'll also get an update from the Federal Emergency Management Agency on what kind of help could be coming.

State and federal officials spent yesterday assessing property damage from last week's floods. They're trying to determine if homeowners should receive federal assistance.

A contractor for Christian County will begin removing debris today left after last month's ice storm. Curbside pickup will begin in downtown Nixa and Ozark, then work its way out.

Crews will make two passes over the next several weeks. Residents need to put debris along the curb, without blocking driveways, fire hydrants and gas meters.
