ROLLA, Mo. -- Rolla police arrested a woman early Friday who shot a relative. The wounded man was in a hospital in Springfield on Friday afternoon but police didn't know his condition.

Police say someone called them around 1:45 a.m. about the shooting. Police forced their way into a house in the 700 block of East 10th Street and found an injured and unconscious 56-year-old man in a bedroom. An ambulance took him to the hospital in Rolla before he was transferred to Springfield.

The 55-year-old suspect was in the Phelps County jail on Friday afternoon but hadn't been charged. Police say the woman told someone else -- the one who called police -- that she killed the man. Online court records show she was charged last May for domestic assault.
