AURORA, Mo. -- Town leaders want to make instant alert messages available to Aurora’s residents by e-mail, cellular telephones or text alerts. Aurora has launched a system called "IRIS" that provides a way to get out weather alerts in just seconds.

The subscription service will cost residents $8 a year. City officials say it's an invaluable tool for getting information anywhere anytime.

People who want the alerts from Aurora Emergency Management can subscribe online.
