Man and woman are charged for murder in Winona

By Gene Hartley

EMINENCE, Mo. – Two people charged for the murder of Diane Ledgerwood of Winona early Thursday. Roy Bradshaw Jr. is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Jaclyn Agee is charged with second-degree murder, burglary, robbery and armed criminal action.

Someone called the Shannon County Sheriff’s Department about 4 a.m. Ledgerwood’s live-in boyfriend told law officers that Bradshaw broke into his home at 2425 Lindsay Road in Winona, robbed him and then killed Ledgerwood. That led to a manhunt that led to the arrests of Ledgerwood and Agee on Thursday afternoon.

According to a probable cause statement filed with the charges against Bradshaw, Ledgerwood’s boyfriend told officers that Bradshaw and Agee broke in, bound him with duct tape and robbed him. Then he heard a gunshot, which he believes was the fatal shot that killed Ledgerwood.

The boyfriend says he was ordered to get in a vehicle, and Ledgerwood’s body was put in the trunk. He told officers that they were taken to a remote area.

“About 5:30 in the morning, we found the vehicle and the victim,” said Sheriff Clinton Reeves.

Reeves says the location was about four files east of Winona off Highway H. It off that same highway, northeast of Winona, that officers later found Bradshaw and Agee hiding in a house.

“We had a brief standoff with those suspects,” said Reeves.

Around 3 p.m., Bradshaw and Agee surrendered. Officers took them to the Winona Police Department.

Bradshaw’s mother says she hasn’t spoken with her son in some time.

“I haven’t seen my son and I haven’t been able to tell him how much I love him and that bothers me,” said Tabatha Bradshaw. “I really don’t know how it got this far.

Bradshaw says Diane Ledgerwood was a family friend.

“My son has been raised here all his life and he was not in arguments with anybody until he met with the person he says he’s in love with, and from here he argued with everybody,” she said.

Family and friends of Ledgerwood say she was a drug rehabilitation counselor who was proud of her Native American heritage and a friend to all ages. Many people called her simply Aunt Di. They can’t understand her death and want justice.

“Our kids were her kids and, a lot of times when our kids couldn't talk to us, they went to Aunt Di and she helped them, and we're all better for that,” said Barbara Christ, a friend of Ledgerwood.

Investigators haven't said what they think the motive for the burglary, theft and murder is but friends say it was a dispute over a debt that Ledgerwood owed.
