Dottie Rambo, who's considered by many a giant in the gospel music industry, died when her tour bus ran off of I-44 just two miles east of Mount Vernon.

Seven others on the bus were hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries.

The bus was in route from Illinois to Texas for a mother's day performance. It's unclear if the earlier storms on Saturday played a role in the bus crash.

Rambo had just performed in the Ozarks last month, with three shows in Branson April 20th thru 22nd. She then appeared in Springfield on April 23rd.

Rambo has had more than 2,500 songs published. She was 74.
