Man now faces murder charge after trip to Branson with body in car

By Gene Hartley

SALT LAKE CITY -- A man from Utah arrested in Branson, Mo., with the body of his ex-girlfriend has been charged with murder. In court documents, Salt Lake County detectives say Michael Doyel admits Deborah Jones was strangled before her body was stuffed in a plastic storage container.

Several days later, on April 21, Branson police found the body of the 50-year-old woman from Salt Lake City in the container in her car in a motel parking lot. Doyel was at the motel with another woman from the Salt Lake City area. She was unharmed.

Prosecutors charged Doyel on Monday with murder, obstruction of justice and theft. In two separate cases, he's charged with kidnapping Jones and the other woman, Patricia Murray.

Doyel, 47, is in the Salt Lake County jail.
