SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Drivers around the city, especially in the downtown area, may find their usual routes blocked by two race events on Saturday.  They’re the Go Girl Half-Marathon and 5K, and the Easter Seals 5K

The Go Girl Run starts at 7 a.m.  Organizers expect approximately 1,500 runners.  The start and finish line will be on St. Louis Street in front of the Springfield Expo Center.

St. Louis will be blocked during the start of the race until approximately 7:20.  This is not a closed course, and officers will allow traffic through during gaps in the race as needed.

The Easter Seals 5K starts at 10 a.m. Organizers expect approximately 300 runners. The start and finish line will be on East Trafficway in front of Jordan Valley Park, between Kimbrough and Sherman avenues.

You can view the 5K course map here.   You can view the Go Girl courses here.

The city says South Avenue and Campbell Avenue will be open for easy access to downtown.
