A Springfield couple say they're lucky to walk away without injury after lightning struck the roof of their duplex.
It happened this morning in the 14-hundred block of West Sackett...that's near Republic and Kansas.
A hole was left in the roof...and scattered insulation throughout their home.
The state fire marshall is trying to determine what sparked a house fire southeast of Willard this morning.
When the owner returned home, he saw flames shooting through the roof of the house in the 49-hundred block of West Spinnaker Lane near "O" highway.
About half of the home received fire damage, the rest smoke and water damage.
No one was hurt.
A driver faces a D-W-I charge after a trooper tried to pull him over for a lane violation on highway 60.
When the trooper got out of her car, the man took off...a pursuit through the streets of Springfield ended at Campbell and Nichols...that's where the car slammed into a utility pole. The driver wasn't hurt.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri voters will have four
political parties to choose from on the November ballot. The
secretary of state's office says the party has gathered enough
petition signatures to qualify its slate of 18 candidates for the
general election.

federal aid for southwest Missouri's tornado victims. The Federal
Emergency Management Agency denied disaster aid for Barry, Jasper
and Newton counties following the May 10th tornadoes that caused 16
deaths but Blunt says the counties desperately need the help.
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Police say a man posing as an undercover
police officer scammed guests staying at two Conway hotels into
giving him their money to check for drug residue. Officials say the
crime is similar to other such thefts across the state in recent
weeks.
