Here's more information from Springfield Music:
SPRINGFIELD "I wish there was a camp when I was a kid where I could learn how to rock!" says Springfield Music's employee Cory Lavallee.
The five-day camp will teach kids how to play in a real band, from naming your band to writing your own music, and will conclude with a live performance for all who wish to attend. The campers will meet every day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., and will learn how to rock out to artists such as AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, & Creedence Clearwater Revival.
The students will also get to take home a CD of their final performance, with their own originally created CD artwork. There's nothing else like it in the area.
I love that Rock Camp is offered to band & orchestral instruments as well as guitar, bass, drums, and piano," says Springfield Music's brass & strings instructor Kim Clark.
Rock Camp is part of Springfield Music's mission to offer musical education and opportunities to Springfield residents-especially kids. Students don't have to have previous music experience, just a desire to learn.
"Music is a performance art," says Springfield Music's guitar instructor Ben Harrell, "so this will be a good opportunity for the students to take what they've learned in their lessons and apply it in a real 'rock band' setting."
There are three sessions of Rock Camp in July. See if Springfield Music has a place for your child in Rock Camp.
