A suspect in a carjacking and kidknapping in the Ozarks last weekend is in custody in the Saint Louis area, where police believe his crime spree continued. The 71 year old Hollister man who was abducted in his own car tells his story to KY3 News.

Bob Russell was just arriving home last Sunday night, when this all began. He's thankful he made it through the ordeal unhurt, but believes his kidnappers were responsible for shooting a 15 year old girl in the Saint Louis area.

Bob Russell had just finished up work at the Branson Community Center and went to grab a bite to eat. Around 8:00 Sunday night, he arrived home to the White River Mountain Apartments. "When I drove home, I reached over in the passenger seat to pick up the sandwich, and I unlocked the door at the same time, not looking that direction, and the door got opened and there was a gun pointed in my face. It was a black male. He told me to move over," Russell says.

Russell says the man got in the drivers' seat and another car followed. They drove to a dead end in a trailer court, where the man in the other car got into Russell's car as well. "I knew if I did something wrong, I coulda got shot," Russell says.

He says the men drove him around the area until they came to a motel- police say it was the Leisure Country Inn, and one of the men loaded things from a motel room into the car. "We proceeded from there over behind Dixie Stampede, on a small road, and the guy in the back seat said to get out, and he was already out. I got out and turned my back to them and they shut the door and left," Russell says.

Russell is not sure what road his kidnappers dropped him off on, but the people that picked him up brought him to Dalton's convenience store, where he called Branson Police.

The investigation has taken Hollister Police to Florrisant, Missouri, in the Saint Louis area. Russell believes the same men who abducted and robbed him, robbed two 15 year old girls Wednesday night, and shot one of them in the chest. Authorities there say she is in serious but stable condition. They also say another robbery, just a half hour before in the same area, may be connected, and that victim helped police come up with this composite image.

Russell believes the man in police custody is one of his kidnappers and thinks his case is nearly solved. "I'm just thankful it's over with, and I can be at ease now a little bit."

Hollister Police weren't able to comment on the possible connection between the crimes, but say one of the men suspected in Bob's abduction was arrested Thursday evening in Florissant for an unrelated incident, and the investigation into the second suspect's identity continues.
