HOLLISTER, Mo. -- Hollister lost its parks director in a crash on Sunday night. Chad Fuqua, 40, was on his motorcycle just after midnight when law officers say a drunken driver turned his Hummer into Fuqua’s path on Business 65 near the Spirits Shop in Hollister.

The driver of the SUV, Chadwick Carter, 28, of Forsyth, is charged with involuntary manslaughter. Investigators for the Missouri State Highway Patrol say Carter’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit for drivers.

Both vehicles were eastbound. The crash threw Fuqua off his bike. An ambulance took him to the hospital in Branson but he died about 1:15 a.m. Carter and his two passengers were not injured.

Fuqua was the son of Hollister Assistant City Administrator Vonnie Mathiesen. Mathieson said Tuesday that services for Fuqua will be Thursday from 5 - 7 at The River church, 10374 E. Missouri 76 in Forsyth.
