McCain plans campaign stop near St. Louis on Sunday

By Gene Hartley

O’FALLON, Mo. -- Sen. John McCain will campaign with his new running mate and numerous big-name politicians on Sunday in this suburb of St. Louis. The rally is scheduled for the minor league baseball park of the River City Rascals.

Alaska Gov. Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain’s choice to run for vice president, will accompany him. Also sharing the stage will be McCain's former presidential rivals Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, Republican gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof, Gov. Matt Blunt and Sen. Kit Bond. Country music singer John Rich plans to warm up the crowd.

River City Rascals president Steve Malliet says the stadium has a capacity of about 15,000 people for events such as this. Free tickets are available from various Republican offices around the state.
