OZARK, Mo. -- A man from Christian County is accused of helping cause the death of a woman who died from an overdose of morphine. Bobby Jones, 23, is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter for the death of Kristina Liles, 33, of Rogersville on June 19.

Liles died at Jones’ home at 3029 Prairie Hollow Road after emergency responders weren’t able to revive her. A detective wrote in a probable cause statement that Jones loaded a needle with morphine for Liles but doesn’t remember if he injected it or she did.

The detective says Jones does remember Liles telling him that “the amount of morphine injected was too much. . . . (and) that after knowing Kristina had overdosed, he put her to bed and did not attempt to get her any medical attention.”

The statement says Jones thinks he put Liles to bed about 1 a.m. and then woke up five hours later and found her not breathing. An autopsy showed Liles died from lack of oxygen because her breathing was slowed by drugs, including morphine.

Christian County Prosecuting Attorney Ron Cleek charged Jones on Thursday, and he was in the Christian County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond on Thursday night.
