JOPLIN, MO. -- A man from Joplin faces federal charges because investigators think he traveled to Oklahoma in a failed attempt to have sex with a 3-year-old girl. Jeffrey Cornell Lewis, 32, was arrested after a woman told police he expressed interest in having sex with her daughter.
Officers, pretending to be the woman online, set up a meeting with Lewis purportedly to have sex with the toddler. If convicted, Lewis could get 10 years to life in prison.
