The government of Samoa is protesting the detainment of one of its Parliament members in Springfield.
Hans Joachim Keil, 64, is the country's associate minister of Commerce, Labor and Industry. He faces federal charges of posing as a U.S. citizen.
Court documents show Keil traveled to Branson to try to recover a Samoan citizen who was working at the Dutton Theatre.
Samoa's prime minister wrote to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice in the case, and calls Keil's arrest a "misunderstanding."
